Fransız Fauvist Ressam Kees van Dongen 1877’de Rotterdam’da doğdu. İlk eğitimini 1892 – 1894 yılları arasında Rotterdam Güzel Sanatlar Akademisinde aldı. 1899’da Paris’e taşındı. 1904’te sanat simsarı Ambroise Vollard Lafitte caddesindeki galerisini sanatçının kişisel sergisine tahsis etti. Bir sene sonra Henri Matisse, André Derain, Albert Marquet, Maurice de Vlaminck, Charles Camoin ve Jean Puy ile Salon d’Automne’de sergi yaptı. Gizle

Van Dongen exhibited artistic leanings early in his youth. He attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Rotterdam and moved to Paris at the age of 20. Gerçekçi renkler ve cüretkâr figüratif konular, dışavurumculuk yönünde daha da ileriye doğru giderek Van Dongen’i zorladı. 1909’da Dresden’deki Brücke (köprü) sanatçılar grubunun üyesi oldu. Pechstein onu 1908-1910 yılları arasında çeşitli ekspresyonist sergilere katılmaya davet etti. Cornelis Theodorus Maria ‘Kees’ van Dongen grew up in Delfshaven, then on the outskirts of Rotterdam. When he was sixteen he started his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam, working with Jan Striening and Johannes Heyberg. It was at the Academy that he started a relationship with fellow painter Augusta ‘Guus’ Preitinger, who he married in 1901. In 1897 Van Dongen lived in Paris for several months, and in 1899 he and Guus returned to Paris and took up residence in Montmartre. ...
